Meet our Coaches
Gordon Zentz: Head Coach
Gordon grew up in North Dakota in a very large family alongside 15 brothers and sisters, 4 with special needs. He has been a lifelong swimmer since he began swimming as a toddler. He spent years as a private swim instructor, a Special Olympics swim coach, assistant and head coach at both the High School and NWAL levels, as well as a teacher in Klein ISD. He is a certified special education teacher and holds EC-6 generalist, K-12 PE, and HS Composite science certifications. He currently works with school districts as a behavior interventionist, using a behavioral curriculum PAWS: Partnering Animals With Success, that he created with his wife Lesley.
He and wife Lesley have 2 wonderful children, Boedy (16) and Aspen (15), who joined our team 3 years ago. While he is working with our children, Lesley will take on additional roles to ensure that he maintains his sanity, keep the peace between the kids and run their farm of about 30 animals.
He enjoys working with swimmers of every skill level. Whether your child is just beginning or a seasoned swimmer. It is important to him that the swimmers push themselves to try to reach their individual goals and expectations. His goal is for them to become better swimmers and to enjoy their journey, whether that means making it to Ponderosa, or simply making it across the pool.
